Charles Yorke Framed Kelham Shaker Kitchen, Near Tiverton, Devon
This kitchen was designed off plan for clients building a passive home on Exmoor. The ecological footprint and uninterrupted views from the property’s elevated position were of prominent importance throughout the process. Our Charles Yorke bespoke framed hand-painted kitchen furniture mirrors the craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout the property’s construction. Double worktop standing glass cabinetry on one wall and feature display cabinetry on the island provide a striking component to the design when entering the room. Dimmable lighting allows for a soft ambient atmosphere in the evening or practical task lighting during the day. The uniformed Silestone worktop helps to facilitate an open and airy space with natural light reflecting from the stone’s graceful pattern. Our favourite details are the exclusive polished nickel hand-hammered furniture handles and deep dovetail jointed pot drawers with hidden double cabinetry cutlery dividers lined with flock matting.
A TC5i AGA was positioned purposefully into the island to incorporate the fabulous views, provide an adequate workstation for a serious cook and a stylish space for entertaining. Unlike a heat storage Aga which is on all the time, the TC5i offers flexibility and reduces running costs. The hot plates, induction cooktop and 5 ovens can be individually controlled with the added benefit of faster heat-up times yet the cast iron ovens still cook food beautifully like a traditional AGA. The 5 ovens include: Roasting, Baking, Simmering, Warming and Slow Cooking. The perfect appliance to compliment a classic country shaker design styled with a sophisticated palette with all the convenience of contemporary living.
‘Spillers and Ruth produced a design that we liked immediately, we chose Charles Yorke because of the innovative design and build quality.’ Mr Mackenzie
