Designing a kitchen to coordinate with the clever layout in this fabulous family home near to the Cornish coastline started with a statement island for functionality, where everyone can congregate with ample room to sit, chat, work and cook.
After extensive discussions with our client, we decided upon a shaker style door with a modern twist for this beautiful home in Dorset. Exclusive to Mackintosh, the Savoy door is handle-less and designed with an interesting retro curve to the detail.
Kitchens are very personal spaces and require a great deal of thought when planning. We gather there as a family to share news over home-cooked meals. We socialise with friends with a fresh cup of coffee.
The striking durable granite worktop withstands heat and is ideal for rolling pasta and pastry. Everything is near to hand with good ergonomics to minimise movement and make the space work effectively with clearly defined zones.
The clean linear lines of the cabinetry in this design help with the transition between living space and kitchen area whilst keeping the practicality of easy access due to the recess channel opening system.
Bringing a sense of order and much needed light remained high on the priority list when starting the design for this rural property on the outskirts of Axminster.

This kitchen was designed off plan for clients building a passive home on Exmoor. The ecological footprint and uninterrupted views from the property’s elevated position were of prominent importance throughout the process.
Lifestyle requirements were very much kept in mind when designing this open-plan space. The kitchen, living and dining area ensures the clients can cook, entertain and relax in one fabulous section of the house.
