Mackintosh Painted Shaker Kitchen, Near Axminster
Bringing a sense of order and much needed light remained high on the priority list when starting the design for this rural property on the outskirts of Axminster. There were many period features to consider that had a significant impact on the planning process. Heavy oak beams, low ceilings and listed oak wall panelling absorbed much of the natural lighting.
The existing cream Aga is used as a focal point with clean walls to emphasise a feeling of openness. Worktop standing crockery cupboards, condiment pull-outs and deep pan drawers ensure adequate storage is facilitated. Painted solid ash shaker doors suit the style and demands of a classic country kitchen while the beautiful polished granite worktops provide generous prep areas and blend perfectly with the surrounding style.
